Rebecca Lamar-Jackson Artist Statement:
My journey as an artist is a tapestry woven from the threads of my unique life experiences. I am adopted, a bridge between two worlds, a testament to the power of love and acceptance. I am passionate about giving voice to those who have not been seen or heard. As a Native American, I draw inspiration from the wisdom of my ancestors and the deep connection to the land. Nature is my muse, and it is within its rhythms and patterns that I find my soul and source. My art speaks of the profound interdependence between all living things, and the need to protect and honor our environment. I upcycle trash into art, finding beauty and value in the forgotten and discarded. My work is a testament to the transformative power of creativity, a reminder that from even the most humble beginnings, art can emerge, breathing new life into what was once considered waste.. Each piece I create is a testament to the potential for rebirth and reinvention, echoing my own life's journey
As an educator, I see my role as a guide, a nurturer of creative potential. I believe in the power of art to pull the best out of children, adults, and the community as a whole. I strive to empower individuals to explore their own creative voices, to see the world through a new lens, and to discover the beauty in the unexpected. JI aspire to offer a voice and a stage to those whose stories and struggles have remained in the shadows. My creations tell the stories of the unheard, and in doing so, I aim to inspire empathy, compassion, and social change. My art is a reflection of this aspiration, a reminder that even in the face of challenges and adversity, there is always room for growth and transformation. I hope to leave an indelible mark, reminding the world that every individual, every object, and every story deserves a second chance, a new perspective, and the opportunity to be seen and heard.
